Pizzitola, la presidenta de la Organización de Jubilados del Servicio Público de la Ciudad de Nueva York, dijo que la ciudad debería finalmente renunciar a su intento de obligar a los jubilados a planes de Medicare Advantage.
“Durante tres años, una coalición ad-hoc de jubilados ha estado luchando contra este esquema ilegal en los tribunales y en el Concejo de la Ciudad”, escribió en un comunicado. “Y aunque los jubilados han tenido continuos éxitos – ganando 9 victorias en tres demandas separadas y frustrando un intento de cambiar la ley – la Ciudad aún parece no poder entender el mensaje: ¡ya es suficiente!”
Pizzitola continuó. “Es hora de que la Ciudad recapacite y ponga fin a su guerra sin sentido e ilegal contra los jubilados. Si los jubilados son obligados a abandonar Medicare tradicional y unirse al nuevo plan de Medicare Advantage de la Ciudad, miles serán privados del acceso a los médicos en los que confían y a la atención médica que necesitan desesperadamente. Y, como testificó el director de la Oficina de Presupuesto Independiente de la Ciudad de Nueva York, los contribuyentes de la Ciudad no ahorrarán ni un centavo.”
