I gently woke Lulu up, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. She stretched and yawned, looking up at me with those big brown eyes that always make my heart melt. After a quick potty break outside, we packed up our things and headed to the private airport in White Plains.
When we arrived, we were greeted by our concierge, Hernán, who was beaming with excitement. He handed me a Bark Air tote bag filled with goodies for both Lulu and me, including treats, toys, and a personalized travel journal. I couldn’t help but smile at the thoughtfulness of it all.
As we boarded the GulfStream jet, Lulu hesitated for a moment before following me inside. The cabin was spacious and luxurious, with plush seats and plenty of room for Lulu to stretch out. She settled in next to me, her head resting on my lap as we prepared for takeoff.
Once we were in the air, Lulu seemed surprisingly calm. She napped for most of the flight, only waking up when the flight attendant brought her some water and a special doggie treat. I couldn’t believe how well she was handling the experience.
As we landed at Biggin Hill Airport, I could see the excitement in Lulu’s eyes. She knew we were somewhere new and different, and she was ready to explore. With Hernán leading the way, we made our way to our Airbnb in London, where Lulu immediately claimed the cozy dog bed that had been set up for her.
Our Bark Air experience had been nothing short of amazing. From the attentive concierge service to the luxurious accommodations, every detail had been thoughtfully planned out to ensure both Lulu and I had a stress-free and enjoyable journey. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to travel with my furry companion.
As I watched Lulu curl up in her bed, her tail wagging contentedly, I knew that this was just the beginning of our adventures together. London was waiting for us, and I couldn’t wait to see what other exciting experiences Bark Air had in store for us. It was a refreshing change from the usual awkward silence or small talk about the weather. There was a sense of camaraderie among the passengers, bonded by their love for their furry companions.
As the flight continued, the dogs started to relax and enjoy the ride. Some curled up on their owner’s laps, while others explored the cabin, sniffing around and making new friends. Lulu, in particular, seemed to be in her element, wagging her tail and soaking in all the attention she received from fellow passengers and the flight crew.
The flight attendants were attentive and caring, not just to the human passengers but also to their four-legged friends. They made sure that the dogs were comfortable, well-fed, and entertained throughout the flight. It was evident that Bark Air truly cared about the well-being of their passengers, both furry and non-furry.
As we approached our destination, the dogs were gathered back to their seats for landing. The flight attendants handed out more treats to help with the ear-popping sensation during descent. It was a smooth landing, and soon we were on the ground, ready to start our new adventure in a new city.
Overall, our experience with Bark Air was nothing short of amazing. It was a stress-free, enjoyable journey that both Lulu and I will remember for a long time. We were grateful for the opportunity to fly with our furry best friends in such a comfortable and pet-friendly environment. As we disembarked the plane, I knew that this would not be our last flight with Bark Air. We were already looking forward to our next adventure with them. Durante el vuelo, conversé con una pareja de Nápoles, Florida, que viajaba con su spaniel de rey Carlos, Theo, a Inglaterra. El padre de Theo, Ted Pither, era de allí, así que habían hecho el viaje a Canterbury muchas veces, pero no habían disfrutado tanto de la experiencia de viajar como lo hicieron con Bark Air. Viajan desde Nápoles cada año al Reino Unido para ver a su familia y disfrutar del verano inglés. Aunque Theo solo tiene dos años y medio, era su tercer viaje al Reino Unido.
“Él es experimentado”, dijo Pither. Para este viaje, originalmente estaban programados para volar con Delta, pero ese viaje los llevaba de Nápoles a Miami, Miami a París, París a Dover (un condado costero al sureste de Londres) para la recepción de mascotas, y luego de Dover a Canterbury. “Es un viaje largo”, dijo, por lo que Bark Air les resultó atractivo por “el tiempo y la facilidad”.
“En el vuelo de Miami a París, [Theo] tiene que estar debajo del asiento durante nueve horas”, dijo Pither. “Eso no es cómodo”. Pero dijeron que su experiencia con Bark Air, en contraste, fue excelente y muy relajada.
Y hablando de relajación, una vez que alcanzamos la mitad de nuestro vuelo, era hora del muy esperado tratamiento de spa a bordo. Lulu recibió un cepillado completo, un paño caliente, y bálsamo hidratante en las almohadillas de sus patas y nariz. Luego la adornaron con una bata de patito de goma antes de recibir un cepillo de dientes, asegurando que estuviera limpia, cómoda y relajada a nuestra llegada a Londres. Cada perro tuvo su turno para su tratamiento de spa individual, cada uno tan gracioso como el anterior de ver.

Después de su tratamiento de spa, Lulu estaba lista para una siesta, al igual que yo. Aprovechamos nuestro gran asiento de sofá para echar una breve siesta mientras la cabina estaba tranquila.
La sorpresa penúltima que nos esperaba estaba escondida bajo una campana plateada. La azafata levantó la cúpula para revelar… un zapato. Los perros tenían muchas cosas para masticar durante el vuelo, incluyendo golosinas de la marca Bark como Fruity Toot Loops, pero el zapato fue un toque agradable y divertido.
Al acercarnos a Londres, nuestra azafata y conserje repartieron bolsas de regalos para cada uno de los cachorros para que sus dueños las abrieran a la moda de “unboxing” de influencer. A Lulu le encantó abrazar su nuevo juguete de peluche de champán y mordisquear algunas golosinas de BarkBox mientras comenzábamos a descender.
En cuestión de momentos después de aterrizar, un funcionario subió a bordo para escanear los microchips de los perros y asegurarse de que coincidieran con la documentación que presentamos. Luego regresamos a la pista antes de lo que he escuchado es uno de los procesos de aduana más rápidos. (Solo había salido del país una vez antes de este viaje). El mostrador de aduanas, a pesar de ser un espectáculo de una sola mujer, fue pan comido, y pronto fuimos conducidos a nuestro servicio de coche negro donde nuestras maletas ya habían sido cargadas. Todo el proceso tardó menos de 10 minutos, de principio a fin. Lulu y yo fuimos recibidos por nuestro conductor que sostenía un letrero personalizado para nosotros, y disfrutamos de nuestro trayecto de 40 minutos a nuestro Airbnb en Clapham.
