Additionally, the lab was working on projects to develop new soybean varieties that could better withstand drought and pests, as well as research on how soybeans could be used to improve animal nutrition. All of these projects are now in jeopardy with the lab’s closure.
Goldsmith is disappointed in the sudden and drastic decision to terminate the lab’s funding, especially considering the potential impact on global food security and nutrition. He hopes that the lab can find alternative sources of funding to continue its important work in the future.
As for now, Goldsmith and his team are left to pack up their offices and say goodbye to a project that meant so much to them. The future of the Soybean Innovation Lab remains uncertain, but Goldsmith remains hopeful that they can find a way to continue their research and help solve the world’s hunger and malnutrition challenges.
